About Hailey's way

In memory of Hailey Dugay

Hailey’s Way Inc was created in 2022 as a Legacy to my daughter Hailey Dugay. We received our charitable status in December 2022.

Hailey was killed in an act of violence in November 2018 in Fraserwood, Manitoba. After a night out with friends they came upon men on the side of the road on Kuz’s road who shot at the passing vehicles. Hailey was hit by one of the bullets and killed. At the age of 20, her life was just beginning. As a certified Health Care Aide she realized early that her love was for children, and had gone back to school to complete her Early Childhood Education. Hailey was a selfless, beautiful soul who still had so much to give.

The support we received as a family from the Gimli and surrounding communities was amazing and overwhelming. And we wanted to give back. So Hailey’s Way Inc was formed.

Empowerment for Interlake Youth.

Our mission is to create safe and supervised leisure activities and educational programs. We want Interlake youth to have a place of their own within a healthy and supportive community.

We strive to encourage growth and increase positive self-esteem by allowing a “come as you are” environment, where all participants — regardless of sex, race, religion, and economic status — feel safe and understood.

We believe that it only takes one person to believe in a youth, for them to begin believing in themselves… Let’s be the person we needed when we were younger.

Gimli Youth Hub

The establishment of a permanent Youth Centre building in Gimli is needed to provide an all-inclusive, non-judgmental, and safe environment. We envision a center where the community’s youth can gather and choose to participate in a variety of activities, programming, and personal growth opportunities.

Youth Programs

Youth programs provide opportunities for youth to develop essential skills in teamwork, leadership, communication, and problem-solving. Programs also help bridge the resource gap and foster kids’ social and emotional well-being.

Hailey Dugay Memorial Award

This award established in 2019 is presented to a deserving student at Gimli High School who embodies Hailey’s values and aspirations, specifically those pursuing a career in the medical field, whether for humans or animals.

It recognizes individuals who demonstrate a commitment to helping others and a passion for making a positive impact in their communities, reflecting Hailey’s generous nature and dedication to service.
